Roof parties in the summer are a must. And Joshua and the Giant has just supplied the perfect tune to make the party pop. This independent synth-pop piano project based in Brooklyn, NY released its new single “Sandy Streets” last month and it’s already receiving some serious buzz. Not surprising, considering “Sandy Streets” combines the best of your favorite indie rock tunes with experimental electronics to create an instant summer classic.
The brainchild of producer/multi-instrumentalist Joshua Ingram, Joshua and the Giant began with the recording of a few songs on Ingram’s parents upright piano and spiraled out from there. Some other must-listen singles include the project's first, “Renaissance,” released in July of last year, and his remix of Marina & The Diamonds’ “Primadonna.” Reminiscent of groups like Yellowcard and fun., it's what Ingram calls, "the melding together of electronic and organic textures, tones, and rhythms," that sets him apart.
Joshua and the Giant is also doing some melding when it comes to making its first music video. Ingram is asking fans to tag their best summer video or picture on Instagram with #sandystreets, #summer and #JoshuaandtheGiant, and plans to use this media in the Sandy Streets film, beautifully breaking down the barriers between band and fan.
Don’t be surprised if you see Joshua the Giant make it big, sweeping the sandy streets of your neighborhood.
