Eidé Designer Spotlight: MAMAZOO

Maria Ana Moura of MAMAZOO

Brooklyn-based designer Maria Ana Moura of MAMAZOO blends New York City street-chic with the exotic in her collection of bold and tropically-inspired jewelry. Each of her pieces effortlessly embodies a range of blended aesthetics, but ask Moura where she found inspiration for her work, - ask Moura where she found inspiration for her work, and the answer is as far-reaching as her designs. Born to Swiss and German parents, Moura hails from locales as diverse as Germany, Spain, the US and Costa Rica. Since her childhood, Moura has fused her multi-cultural upbringing with her creative eye in painting, design, and multi-media artwork. After studying graphic design, Moura moved to Barcelona, Spain, where she was the manager of the "ROJO" artspace and began her explorations in accessory design. Her passion for the medium brought her to Parsons New York, from which she obtained her Associates Degree in Fashion Design in 2011.

MAMAZOO is Moura's creative platform. With her jewelry - created by hand - she is inspired by "the exotic and the mix." From a green and black leopard velvet choker over a brass chain, to a black dull-finished crêpefabric with brass rings, Moura's designs are a "mix" of materials, of inspirations and of cultures. MAMAZOO is simple, chic and bold; the brand is a visual, wearable blend of the tropics and Moura's NYC backyard today.
